A Week Of Techniques
The week really has just flown by, last Sunday I was on the road heading to Westminster to hang the first art show and set up for classes.
It has been a week filled with technical information. I will be at #NOMA gallery today doing a step by step using a reductive process to start a charcoal and or pastel. The "and" part instead of just "or" is because you can combine the two which is what I will do today.
The basic technique is toning paper, using a kneaded eraser and pulling some of the pastel off to create light areas. The mid-tone has been established with the toning. Adding back into the work with charcoal or pastel to finish the details.
Here are a few pictures of a barn owl done in this style.
