Wolf Moon

Everything has a name, each full moon has it's own name, or several of them. The Farmer's Almanac states that these names came from Native American tribes. Often each tribe would have their own name for the full moon. The naming of the moons was a way of keeping track of the seasonal changes.

This is the first full moon of 2014, the Wolf Moon, as the tribes would hear the wolves howling under the moon. It was also called Old Man Moon, First Yule Moon and sometimes Snow Moon but later that name was given to the moon in February.

I could not find the image I wanted to post but did find a wolf small pastel on black paper and a full moon photograph.
