Irruption

An irruption of Snowy Owls. During this migration season the Snowy Owl has been migrating much further south and in much larger numbers. Which happens every so many years and is called an irruption.

I am always interested in these types of things. How do these names come about? Like a murder of crows, tidings of magpies, exaltation of larks or a parliament of owls.

If you see a Snowy Owl in your part of the country and you normally do not you can go to ebird.org and report the sighting. Or just enjoy seeing something you don't see in your neck of the woods, fields?

Here are a few of my Snowy Owls.
