Sunday Morning

Sunday, a day of rest and reflection. The last few days, few weeks have been busy ones. Today will slow down a bit, at least looking forward to going gently into this good day. Wrapped up the art show with the Artists of Scottsdale Ranch in AZ. Good show with lots of people attending and some good sales too. It is hard work doing a one day show.

Will start a step by step post next week on doing stones and a feather in pastel. Until then I leave you with sunrise in AZ.

The colors of the sky

As the sun was setting tonight the sky was turning colors you do not always think of as a sky color. It was yellow, moving into peach then orange, but a soft orange. There were no clouds to reflect the light back or under. So the sky gently changed colors and moved into the night sky. With the lack of clouds it has allowed for viewing lots of stars and planets. At this time of year there are six planets that are visible from sunset to sunrise.

It was a nice way to go gently into the evening. A soft slow setting of the sun.

Sometimes you just need a sunflower

While at my favorite food store - Trader Joe's - my son asks if I am going to buy flowers. Why not? So, I look and there are lots of beautiful flowers, mixed colors, roses, hydrangea, lilies,  but when I turned around there were sunflowers. They were what I wanted, what I needed, something bright and friendly to fill my kitchen window with warmth. The last couple of mornings I get up to make my coffee and there they are standing up tall and full. As the sun was traveling across that part of the house the light bounced off the flowers. I had to take some pictures. And with any luck at all I will do some drawings of these lovely flowers. Marilu has already done a number of scratchboards of these wonderful flowers. Here are some photos of mine and a scratchboard of Marilu's. Enjoy these little bits of sunshine. Some days you just need a sunflower.

A New Year A New Start

With each New Year we get that moment in time to reflect on the past year and think of those things we would like to do better, to improve ourselves, our lives, & our work. To deal with changes that we do not always, usually never have control over. Yet, we figure out a way to make things happen.

I am happy that I have some amazing moments. I get to spend time out west in the winter. There is always something blooming or buzzing around. Tomorrow heading down to the town of Bisbee. I have not been there before. New Year, new adventures, new locations to find inspiration for new art.

Until then here are a few pictures from the Desert Botanical Gardens evening luminaries and day time new sculptures in the gardens. Next post hope to have some interesting finds from Bisbee & Tucson area to post.
